ACP was established in Melbourne in 2013 with a clear focus on physiotherapy that is useful to older people, care teams and the organisations supporting them.

WHY ACP EXISTS

We want physiotherapy to make a difference beyond the appointment.

Our work is centred on helping older people move safely, maintain function and participate in everyday life. We recognise that aged-care physiotherapy is different from treating someone in a traditional private clinic.

The appropriate goal may be rehabilitation, prevention, maintenance, comfort, safer transfers or helping a person continue an activity that matters to them.

Our clinical approach has been shaped by years of working in residential aged care and community settings.

Real-world assessment

We consider the resident in the environment where they actually move, transfer and receive care.

Team communication

Relevant recommendations are shared with the people responsible for implementing care, subject to the appropriate arrangements.

Continuous review

We recognise that function changes and reassessment may be needed after illness, injury, falls or other changes.

Ashutosh Porwal (Ash), Physiotherapist

Ash founded Aged Care Physiotherapy in 2013. As a registered physiotherapist with more than 20 years of Australian physiotherapy experience, he has worked across clinical care, education, operations and aged-care service development.

ACP has grown from that original clinical focus into a Melbourne-based service supporting residential facilities, residents and community clients.
